ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURES

REGULAR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

Admissions, at freshman level, to all undergraduates’ full-time (regular) studies are processed and granted through the Ministry of Education Priority will be given to students in the Natural Sciences field who are deemed physically fit for the training.

In general, admission of students to higher education is based upon the performance of students in the Ethiopian Schools Leaving Certificate Examination (ESLCE).

ADVANCE STANDING STUDENTS

Applicants should have diploma in forestry with a minimum of two and a maximum of ten years of working experience, positive recommendation from employers, and a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50;

PART-TIME STUDENTS

Students who would like to enrol on part-time basis could be allowed to attend classes of the regular undergraduate program for a degree or diploma. They must meet the admission requirements of the college and fulfil other requirements set by the College.

CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAM (CEP)

Applicants with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 1.60 in five ESLCE subjects, including English and Mathematics, or admissions through Foreign Examinations which are accepted after the College APC evaluates for their equivalence to the ESLCE (Ethiopian School Leaving Certificate Examination), may be considered for admission to the CEP. Selection will be on a competitive basis.

MASTER OF SCIENCE.

  • The applicant must have a Bachelor’s Degree in forestry or related fields from a recognized University or College, and maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5 or above, or CGPA of 2.75 or above in the major field of study.
  • The candidate must pass a qualifying examination.
  • The candidate should, in principle, have at least two years of work experience (service) after obtaining the Bachelor of Science degree.
  • The candidate must be supported by at least three letters of recommendations, preferably from the candidate’s undergraduate instructors, employers and professional associations.

All advanced standing applications must be accompanied by: an official transcript of all undergraduate courses taken earlier; a letter of recommendation from employee, whenever deemed necessary, a bank receipt of 5.00 (five Birr) for application fee payable to:

  • The application for admission to the M.Sc.- program shall be made to the Office of the Registrar after filling application forms that are provided by the Office. The completed application forms accompanied by the official transcript. The application must be sent to:

Self Sponsoring Students

Selfsponsoring students (including foreigners) can be intertained in the regular program.

Fees for admission, application, registration, tuition and lodging will be covered by the students.
